We are so privileged to host both our recitals at the Sanderson Centre in Brantford, Ontario! This incredible, historic facility offers ample seating, change rooms, parking, and stage space for our dancers!
We host two recitals each season — a Christmas Show (December) and Year-End Show (June). The beauty of our Christmas Show is the confidence it brings dancers before their Year-End Recital performance — performing without costume, this recital introduces dancers to the environment, organization, and physical understanding of what it's like to dance on the big stage! Following this performance, dancers feel more confident, comfortable, and excited to participate in our Year-End Recital!
WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS! If you are interested in volunteering at our recital, contact nlcdancecompany@gmail.com! We appreciate your help in advance!
Yes! All recreational classes participate in both our Christmas and Year-End Show! If class sizes are small, we may combine two recreational classes of similar or same age group/level.
Recital tickets are sold through the Sanderson Centre Box Office (online, phone, or in-person). Ticket sale dates are communicated via email and social media.
OTHER NOTES:
Assigned seating — first come, first served.
Children 2 and under sitting on a lap require a free "Babes in Arms" ticket.
Dancers do NOT require a ticket.
Yes! Considering our growing competitive team, we cannot feature every competitive routine in the recital each season. All group routines participate in our recital, with solo, duets/trio participation depending on our show order. All recital scheduling information is communicated well ahead of time through email!
Recital participation is not mandatory for recreational dancers, though we strongly encourage every dancer participates in our Recital celebrations! Participation forms are distributed months prior to each recital — non-participating dancers still learn the routine in class! Participation is mandatory for Competitive Team dancers.
CHRISTMAS SHOW
Our Christmas Show is entirely costume-free! Dancers are to wear all black dance attire, and we add fun 'Christmas bling' once they arrive to the theatre!
YEAR-END SHOW
No! Recreational dancers may choose to opt-out of costuming — however, participating dancers who do not purchase a costume must purchase a mandatory NLC recital t-shirt.
We only organize a dress rehearsal for our Year-End Show in June. Our dress rehearsal is scheduled the same day as our performance, typically between 9:00–1:00 PM. Dancers practice their routines on stage without an audience, rehearsing with their Instructor and Assistant Teachers. Before they leave, each class is photographed with their class on stage.
NOTE: Dancers must arrive to dress rehearsal in complete hair, makeup, costume, and required footwear.
HOW WE RUN THE SHOW: THE INS-AND-OUTS
Our entire show typically runs for approximately 3–4 hours, including a 15-minute intermission. Dancers performing in the first half of the show may be picked up at intermission, and are not required to stay for the entire show.
